The Cedar Riverside neighborhood, where the Center is located is also known nationally as little Mogadishu, because it is the first home for many of the Somali immigrants in the U.S. This neighborhood also serves the University of Minnesota, Augsburg College (home to the Gathering of Nobel Peace Prize Laureates every year.

ICSA exchanges visits or participates in service programs with non-Muslim organizations to build bridges of understanding. ICSA also regularly conducts presentations on Islam and Somali Culture.
